UN project Le corbusier originally planned two high rise buildings for the United Nations headquater on its property along the east river. One building parallel to the river was realized. Sixty years later the other one is taken into consideration. The casino is introduced as a programmatic relief to the 'goodness' of the UN. Both institutions depend on the extraterritorial (political, legal) status of the site, they share an immense surveillance apparatus as well as infrastructural connectivity (FDR, Manhattan Loop, Airports). coersmeier |
